Giving Thanks for Work that Works

Back in May 2019, I was sitting in the NICU of Texas Children’s Hospital, watching my 28-week-old preemie twins grow stronger under the care of some of the best nurses and doctors in the world. While I wasn’t surprised that they were born early, I was taken aback by just how early they decided to arrive. Despite my mental preparation, I felt unready for the two-plus-month stay that lay ahead.

Fortunately, I have a job I can do from anywhere with an internet connection and a laptop. Keep in mind, this was before anyone had heard of COVID-19 or considered the possibility of a global pandemic that would make remote work a necessity for many businesses.

Fast forward to today: many companies, including giants like Amazon, are requiring employees to return to the office.

Today, I’m a proud parent of three healthy, energetic boys (8, 5, and 5) and work remotely from New England. We returned to this area once the twins were strong enough to travel, eager to be closer to family. Paige navigates life with a teen and a tween, keeping her on her toes with sports and all the activities that come with active children.

Life looks a lot different than it did in 2019, yet here we are, working remotely with clients not only in Houston and Boston but around the globe. We enjoy the flexibility to get our work done while juggling laundry, soccer, football, and hockey practices—all while prioritizing our clients’ needs.

November is a time for gratitude, and Paige and I are immensely thankful for our loyal clients, those we’re just getting to know, and our supportive families who encourage us every step of the way. I’m also grateful for my career and the flexible work schedule that allows me to spend quality time with loved ones and pursue my passions. It’s a privilege to work with such amazing clients and witness their growth and success. Each interaction reminds me of the trust they place in us, motivating us to consistently deliver our best.
